Affordable housing solutions were needed in six communities across BC and temporary accommodations used by nearly 600 officials during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games were no longer needed.
This four-storey building provides 22 apartments for adults with mental-health barriers and 11 apartments for youth at risk of homelessness. Chilliwack Community Services Society and Creative Centre Society partnered to operate the building and provide onsite support services.
In order to bring affordable housing to six communities in BC, Metric Modular partnered with BC Housing and the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games to design and build 320 temporary accommodations that were used by nearly 600 officials in Whistler Athletes’ Village during The Games. After The Games, these modules were disassembled, redesigned, transported and reassembled to 156 new social housing units in Chilliwack, Enderby, Saanich, Sechelt, Surrey and Chetwynd.
Every unit included a kitchen and bathroom and amenity space for on-site support services.
