Working with BC Housing, Metric Modular was tasked with coming up for solutions to provide safe, secure housing for seniors in multiple locations across the province of British Columbia. One of the biggest challenges we faced was the lack of access to sub-trades in many locations.
This 22-unit building provides affordable housing for seniors and people with disabilities.
The modular housing was uniform, high-quality and used 100 percent BC wood that was sourced from pine beetle-affected forest. Each housing module was built according to EnerGuide80 Standards and are designed to be easily accessible for seniors and people with disabilities. This includes room sizes that allow for wheelchair access and maneuvering, shelves and light switches at an accessible height and bathroom grab bars or step-in showers.
