Affordable housing solutions were needed in six communities across BC and temporary accommodations used by nearly 600 officials during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games were no longer needed.
This three-storey building provides 36 affordable, supportive housing units to help individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
In order to bring affordable housing to six communities in BC, Metric Modular partnered with BC Housing and the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games to design and build 320 temporary accommodations that were used by nearly 600 officials in Whistler Athletes’ Village during The Games. After The Games, these modules were disassembled, redesigned, transported and reassembled to 156 new social housing units in Chilliwack, Enderby, Saanich, Sechelt, Surrey and Chetwynd.
Every unit included a kitchen and bathroom and amenity space for on-site support services
