Attracting and retaining skilled workers in remote locations can be a challenge for many companies. One of the things that has helped address this has been the evolution and upgrades often found in today’s accommodations. Metric Modular has been at the leading edge of these improvements – a great example of this is our Jackfish Lodge project in Northern Alberta, build for Devon Energy.
We designed and built 10 two-storey dorm wings, totalling 880 rooms.
We wanted to give workers a sense of “being at home” during their work week, so each dorm includes a private bedroom and a bathroom and has a high-end hotel quality finish which helps enhance the overall look and feel. We also put in a number of elaborate amenities areas including a full size gym, two squash courts, a weight room and a rec area. There is also a games lounge where workers can enjoy pool tables, video games, pinball, darts and a poker table. A full-sized movie theatre and a fully-equipped kitchen and dining area round out the “all-inclusive” feel to the accommodations.
