Designed as an addition to an existing power plant at a run-of-river hydroelectric power-generating station, the office project included perimeter private offices, a conference room and open common area with direct access to the power plant control room.
Ensuring the architectural features were reflective of the surrounding coastal mountain region, the Metric Modular team designed accordingly. The interior finishes complement the old growth forest and natural surroundings of the site. Large windows maximize natural light and take advantage of the views offered by the spectacular location.
Maximizing office space requirements on reduced available land while having minimal impact on the environment were critical components of this project. In addition, the office building was constructed within the constraints of restricted site access and crane lift. Other challenges included logging road access, overhead power lines and a critical lift that required custom engineering due to the maximum allowable building weight of 24,000 pounds.
